On October 13-14, St. Petersburg was held All-Russian Congress “Hospitality Professionals”, dedicated to the problems of professional standards implementation, as well as a system of independent assessment of the qualifications and professional public accreditation of educational programs in the hospitality industry. Team of Turris HMG also took an active part in this event.

At the Plenary Session “The development of personnel in the hospitality industry”, the participants of the Congress unanimously accepted the fact of the market demand for qualified professionals and a need to change the state of modern educational programs towards the more practice-oriented.
Representatives of Turris HMG, as many employers present, agreed on a need to confirm by the specialists of hospitality industry of basic knowledge and skills for employment.
On workshops, held during the second day of the Congress, participants were able to ask questions to the skilled speakers about requirements to the Customer Service Center, formation of the expert community in the region, development of assessment tools, stages of negotiation and beginning of the work of CSC and possible obstacles and difficulties in the process of its formation.

Results of the conference “The tourism industry of the North-West of Russia”
The conference “Inbound and domestic tourism in the North-West: situation and prospects” was took place on August 24, 2016. It was attended by the delegates of “Turris” HMG and brought up points of strategic development of the tourism industry, priority types of tourism, tourist traffic sources, also a hot topic was the question of St. Petersburg’s infrastructure readiness: transportation, visa support, payment systems, and navigation.
The panel discussion “Tourism Economics” raised topics of innovation development of the tourism industry, the main problems and ways to overcome them. During the expert session “About the trends in the industry and the best practices of growth” the particular interest was aroused by the reports “Promotion of the territories and the formation of global tourism products: Russian and international experience”, which showed the experience of Finland at the state level and Tikhvin town at the level of the city with a small budget, but big ambitions and a desire to attract tourists.
A hot-button issue was the problem of custom transportation in tourism. Attendees discussed the downsides of current legislation and possible solutions. Tour operators, present at the conference, commented the actions of the Federal Agency for Tourism (Russia Tourism), which permitted violation of their legal rights for the purpose of engaging in labor activities.
